Objective:

Participants will create a painting that reflects the qualities of Capricorn — responsibility, management, and structure — interpreted through the serene and powerful imagery of the full moon.

 

Target Audience:

This workshop is suitable for adults and teenagers aged 15 and above, accommodating all skill levels.

 

Materials Provided:

• Acrylic and ink paints

• canvas, paper (small size)

• A variety of brushes suitable for different painting techniques

• Palettes and mixing trays

• Refreshments to enjoy while painting

 

Workshop Schedule:

Introduction (10 minutes)

 

• Warm welcome and introduction to the significance of the full moon in Capricorn.

• Brief discussion on the traits of Capricorn that can inspire our paintings, such as structure, realism, and ambition.

 

Demonstration (10 minutes)

• The instructor will demonstrate painting techniques that can be used to create textured, layered effects, mimicking the rugged terrain often associated with Capricorn’s earthy nature.

• Quick tutorial on how to mix colours to achieve deep, rich tones suitable for a nocturnal landscape.

 

Painting Session (35 minutes)

• Participants begin working on their canvases, encouraged to incorporate Capricorn-inspired symbols or themes, such as mountainous landscapes, architectural structures, or abstract representations of time and discipline.

• The instructor and assistants will circulate to offer personalised guidance and tips to enhance each participant’s artistic expression.

 

Closure and Sharing (5 minutes)

• Participants wrap up their painting projects.

• Optional sharing session where participants can discuss their artwork and the ideas behind their creations, fostering a sense of community and mutual appreciation.

 

Instructor:

An experienced painter with a passion for astrology will lead the workshop, providing insights into how celestial events can influence art and creativity.

The workshop will be led by Sophie Kyriakopoulou, experienced painter and Glasgow School of Arts Masters graduate who will be providing expert guidance and inspiration throughout the session.
